A food allergy is where the body incorrectly thinks a particular food is harmful.  The body then creates chemicals to protect itself so that when we eat the food again we get a reaction.  This could be in the form of a wide variety of symptoms e.g. tingling in the mouth, difficulty breathing, diarrhoea and even death with something like a nut allergy.

With more than 40 per cent of the UK’s children suffering from allergic disease Allergy UK are launching their most ambitious project to date. The ‘Blossom Campaign’ was launched at the Royal College of Paediatrics on 31st May.

Blossom aims to stop the social exclusion of children with allergies and to provide

information, advice and support for carers - whether parents, child minders, teachers or voluntary group leaders.  Blossom will work closely with all sectors to provide information through publications, a new website, and immediate help and support from trained staff via a helpline.

Our information and services are tailored to meet the needs of anyone who care’s for children so that they may provide the best support and care for children with allergies.

You can find out more by visiting the Allergy UK website.
